Keep the bread in the paper bag provided or invest in a reusable and washable linen bag.
Before it gets too hard, slice your bread and freeze it. Take slices out one by one when you need them. They will defrost and toast in the toaster in a few minutes.
Alternatively, make pain perdu. Beat an egg, add sugar, cinnamon and milk. Soak the bread in it and fry it. It makes a filling and yummy breakfast before football practice.
Or why not breadcrumbs? Leave the bread to dry out fully on your worktop or in the oven at low temperature. Blitz it in the food processor to make breadcrumbs. Mix the breadcrumbs with grated cheese to make homemade chicken nuggets for example.
Fresh pasta cooks much faster than dry pasta. Boil the water with a bit of salt and cook for 5 minutes. Careful, overcooked fresh pasta will break and stick very quickly.
If you have no time to make a sauce, simply cut mozzarella, tomato and basil in a salad bowl, throw the cooked pasta on top with salt, pepper and olive oil. Mix and serve.
Bring the water to a boil with a bit of salt. Dip the gnocchi in for 2 minutes. Like fresh pasta, overcooked fresh gnocchi will break and stick very quickly.
Alternatively (and my favourite!), melt a bit of butter in a pan, and fry the fresh gnocchi. Chop some sage in small bits and sprinkle. Quick and simple and very tasty. If your children might find sage a bit too much, swap for basil or a tomato sauce.
